South Shore man accused of keying Tesla Cybertruck, police say
A South Shore man was arrested and charged after another Tesla vehicle was reported vandalized. Hingham police said the owner of a 2024 Cybertruck contacted them to report that the vehicle's camera system captured a man walking past his parked vehicle on April 13 while dragging a key down the passenger side. Police identified the man as Brendan Mullen, 20, of Weymouth. He was charged with malicious damage to a motor vehicle. He will be arraigned in Hingham District Court on April 16. Earlier this month, a man was arrested and charged in the vandalism of Tesla vehicles at a Peabody store. According to police, a store manager said a man poured paint on a number of vehicles at the Tesla store on Andover Street before fleeing the property.Last month, there were several incidents of Tesla vehicles being vandalized.On March 11, two Cybertrucks and a Model S were spray-painted and had their tires slashed at Tesla's sales and service center on Providence Highway, which is Route 1, in Dedham. That followed an incident at the same location on Feb. 26 when graffiti was found scrawled on a door. Earlier in the month, police were investigating an apparent arson at a Tesla Supercharger station in Littleton. A Roslindale man was arrested last month and was accused of vandalizing Teslas in Brookline.In the last month, Tesla stores have been targeted in rallies around the U.S., including in Massachusetts, in an attempt to send a message to Elon Musk and President Donald Trump's administration.
